Live life mindfully

Ever felt there must be more to life? Well good news, there is! And it's right here in front of us. We just need to stop and take notice.

Learning to be more mindful and aware can do wonders for our well-being in all areas of life - like our walk to work, the way we eat or our relationships. It helps us get in tune with our feelings and stops us dwelling on the past or worrying about the future - so we get more out of the day-to-day.  Read more

When do you stop and take notice?

Tell us

I love beauty and people. I stop and look at gardens, people interacting, animals living in our environment, birds, etc. clouds in the sky, changing colours of the light during the day, I stop and pay attention to myself, how I am feeling, thinking. I listen, I love to stop and listen to all the sounds, bells tinkling in the distance... I like to notice the breeze, or the air everyday and breathe in the sunshine or the greyness of the skies, the stars at night, the glow of the moon...

All the time - when walking and cycling places I will stop, go back, choose different routes then look things up when home Also an awareness of place through my training as an urban designer - combination of the natural and built environment, history, culture, climate. But also getting to know particular places well through the seasons eg we are members of a community farm and a wood fuel project which means we visit the same place at least everty month. Also set up a community woodland which I visit about once a week to see what has changed.

I learnt mindfulness meditation some years ago and I have to say it's changed my life. I'm not very good at making regular time to do it properly every day, but I still find myself noticing more about how I'm feeling and what's going around me during the day - like when I'm on the train or walking to a meeting. When I see all the flowers in the park, makes me realise how blessed we are
