Action for Happiness has partnered with BBC Breakfast to run a week-long Happiness Challenge all this week (24-29 January 2011).
The aim is to get members of the public trying out simple actions to improve their happiness, based on the latest scientific research.
We have found eight volunteers in Scarborough get on - including a bin man, artist, butcher, belly dancer, shop worker, marine biologist and retired couple. All this week we will see how they get on.
The Happiness Challenge involves simple daily actions in three areas:
