What is emotional intelligence?
05 Jun 2015 | Robert Conrad
Although we are affected by our surroundings and by the
behaviour of others, we ultimately all have the ability to choose
how to respond. And to do this effectively, we need to develop our
Emotional Intelligence.
By honing the skills to understand and manage emotions
effectively, we can greatly increase our quality of life, both at
home and at work. People with high Emotional Intelligence also tend
to cope better under pressure, acknowledge and learn from their
mistakes and take criticism well.
The infographic below, by the University of Maryland, explores why we react
the way we do and how improving our Emotional Intelligence can help
us gain more control of our lives.
